Mistreated by DesuSigMaker Mistreated by DesuSigMaker
I may not read as much as I'd like, but this applies to books, both soft and hard, Comics/Manga, any type of book.

It frustrates me when people treat them badly, bend pages(Dog ears), throw them around. It makes me want to attack the person. ;w; Then sob in a corner. :c

Treat books with respect. <3

My school library has the whole set of Harry Potter books, and it kills me to see what a horrible condition they're in ;.;

Yeah, I don't understand, how it could be possible to not respect a book. Such a wonderful thing: a time machine and Narnia's wardrobe in one.
I'm not quite sure about the writing on book's pages. I mean, I wouldn't ever do something like that, but on the other hand, I've read many poets and writers, who encourages to do it. It makes the book truly "ours" and keep our thoughts from the time we were reading it... But I still don't know. I don't even have a pretty handwriting! :shakefist:

I recently checked out Ark Angel (Anthony Horowitz) in my school library. MOST MISTREATED BOOK EVER.

The first page of chapter 18 was torn out. (Luckily it was in the book.) AND more pages were about to fall out. It made me frustrated having to be so darn careful with it.

I agree completely. Seeing books with huge ass stains with the spine nearly falling apart, that makes me cry silently inside.

I get so sad whenever I accidently break one of my books. It always happens when I put one in my school bag; it always gets crushed by other things.

I'm not one to spend hours trying to fix bent books, but when i see people holding a single page of a book and waving it around carelessly, I have to admit, i get quite irked

I am not much of a reader, but when I see little bends on the cover etc. I literally spend millions of hours trying to fix it.

So thank god I am not the only one :>

I agree that I hate books being mistreated, it's disgusting how any one can treat anything like that. Though in my personal opinion (and by no means am I saying I disagree or dislike your opinion) I think that dog earing isn't so much mistreating as it is convenient. I completely understand where you are coming from and I'd hate to start any kind of drama over something as petty as this but I feel that dog earing is just an easy solution for convenience (and lazy people like me :giggle:).
I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

Have a wonderful day. :aww:

How is dogearing mistreating books? It's saving a place in the book and can easily be fixed. Not all of us have over 200 book marks.

Bending the page is horrible and very disrespectful. Who said anything about 200 book marks? IT's called a piece of paper. c:

How's it horrible and disrespectful? Last I checked books don't have feelings nor do they care. And who has loose leaf paper floating around. I don't. Most of my paper I use for printing and drawing. Not saving a place in a book.

To the author it is. It's the same perspective as going around and bending other things that are not meant to be. Why don't you go ahead and bust the screen on your phone? It has no feelings. If you can't find a small piece of paper or tear off one to use, then you're in no way shape or form able to handle the responsibility of owning a book, yet alone anything that requires any kind of care.

Judging by your art, you're in no way, shape or form in requirement of paper.

Pretty sure the authors don't give a shit about people dogearing their books. I'll ask Anne Rice the next time I'm on facebook :|

And my art is first done on paper using a mechanical pencil. Just because I scan it in using a scanner and ink and color it in gimp. (And that's my ACTUAL art) Just because the final stages are done in GIMP doesn't mean that I don't use paper. In fact I go through sketchbooks every 6 months or so depending on how much I draw. In fact I even say that I draw in a sketchbook in my deviations :| Maybe you should read the artist comments before making ignorant assumptions.

Maybe you should gain some intelligence. I was implying your art isn't grade A quality, not that you have Digital instead of traditional. As for your opinion: you're an immature, low quality child that has little to no respect when it comes to items you own. If you want to dog ear a book, go ahead- Just mine and millions of others personal opinion. I now see why you won't and haven't gone far in life.

Anything else you comment to me will be a tl;dr and flagged for spam.

Good day. c:

No no no my friend! A worn book is a sign of a loved book!
When the pages are bent and the spine has a crease in it... It's bloody brilliant!

I agree with you. It means that it is a good read. But I see DesuSigMaker's point too. Don't mistreat, but a worn book means that it has it's own history and value to it's owner.

I said mistreated, not worn. There is a huge difference in loving a book and throwing it around, mistreating it, etc.

Fyi, bent pages are never good- I don't care who, what, when, where or why. If it's for marking pages, that's even worse.

Well, fyi I suppose it's a matter of opinion really.
It's pretty excellent for marking pages as well, but this is just coming from a person who loves worn/mistreated books.
But I shan't give my opinion where it's not respected.
